Eternal Atake is the upcoming second studio album by American rapper Lil Uzi Vert.[1][2]
Apparently, Lil Uzi Vert‘s Eternal Atake may see the light of day fairly soon. According to a statement made at Rolling Loud Miami — captured in an accompanying Instagram post — the rapper. Although he didn’t mention the album by name, Eternal Atake has been the project Uzi's been promoting publicly, so it's pretty safe to say that's the album he's speaking on.
Background
Lil Uzi Vert published two messages to Twitter 'Eternal Atake' and 'Eternal means forever. Atake means 2 overtake', that were described as cryptic.[3] On July 31, 2018, which was also Uzi Vert's 24th birthday, he removed all posts from his Instagram profile except for two—a snippet of 'New Patek' and the cover art of Eternal Atake. 'As promised - the keys to Eternal Atake are here again in Luv and Rage (The UFO 2) as Lil Uzi Vert and his father 2000 years ago' is a phrase placed at the bottom of the album's cover art.[4][5][6] On December 9, Uzi confirmed that Eternal Atake had been finished and was set for release.[7] On January 11, Uzi announced via Instagram that he had 'deleted everything' and was 'done with music',[8] although many believed this could merely have been a publicity stunt and/or a promotional roll-out for the album.[9] He later returned a few months later with two new singles. On May 13, 2019, Lil Uzi Vert said he finally completed the album.[10]
Singles
On April 9, 2019, two singles from the album were released: 'That's a Rack' and 'Sanguine Paradise'.[11]
Cover art
On July 13, 2018, Uzi Vert shared the cover art of Eternal Atake,[12] which is a rework of Heaven’s Gate's logo. The cover art consists of the words 'Eternal Atake' written inside a keyhole.[13][14][15] In response to the cover art, the two surviving members of the cult suggested that legal actions could be taken against Uzi Vert for using their logo.[16][17] A representative of the group stated in an email that 'he is using and adapting our copyrights and trademarks without our permission and the infringement will be taken up with our attorneys. This is not fair use or parody, it is a direct and clear infringement.'[18][19]
